Image of the Month: October 2010

The theme for this month's competion was: The Fifth Element

This shoot was taken in a retention pond while on a photo trip to Eli, Minnesota. I had been shooting some tree reflections in the pond and tossing leaves into the pond to add to the picture when I noticed the "bubbles" around the leaves. I got the scientific explanation for them from a fellow photographer but cannot remember it now. I took quite a few pictures of the leaves with the "bubbles" around them but I really like the composition of this one. The only photoshopping I did was to saturate some of the colours a bit and to add the leaves in the lower right corner.
