Image of the Month: September 2010

The theme for this month's competion was: Open

Gooseberry Falls in Northern Minnesota is a very picturesque location that is well worth the trip. Located in the south basin of Lake Superior about an hour north of Duluth. This shot was taken just at sunrise to capture the low horizontal golden light under the trees, yes that means getting up early. I liked this particular shot because it demonstrates that a waterfall doesn't have to be in your face to be enjoyed. I'm very honoured that the complete composition of the image was enjoyed as it was my intent. Printed on a matt lithographic paper it warms the image yet maintains all the detail that draws the viewer into the root of the image.
